The Alexander Nevsky Church (in Latvian Svētā Ņevas Aleksandra baznīca ) is a Russian Orthodox church in the Latvian capital Riga .

It is located in the Livonian suburb of Riga on the east side of Freiheitsstraße ( Brīvības iela ) at Freiheitsstraße 56. To the north of the church, Bärentöterstraße ( Lāčplēša iela ) joins , and to the south, Blaumannstraße ( Blaumaņa iela ) joins Freiheitsstraße.

Architecture and history

The church, built as a rotunda , was made from wood in the classicism style between 1820 and 1825 . There are three porticos , each supported by four Doric columns. A stone bell tower was erected on the southeast side of the building in 1863. The plastered building is spanned by a dome. Inside there is a two-storey circulation.

Since October 29, 1998 it has been registered in the Latvian Register of Monuments under the number 6518 .
