J. Alexander Baumann

J. Alexander Baumann (born December 10, 1942 in Zurich ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ) from the canton of Thurgau . From 1995 to 2011 he was a member of the National Council.

Baumann is an independent lawyer (Dr. iur.) In his home town of Kreuzlingen . He was admitted to the bar in 1973.

With his election to the Grand Council of the Canton of Thurgau in 1988, Baumann entered politics. He was a member until 1995 when the Thurgau voters elected him to the National Council in the 1995 parliamentary elections . He was confirmed in office in 1999, 2003 and 2007. In 2011 he resigned as a national councilor.

Baumann politicized on the right wing of the SVP parliamentary group, advocated tightening asylum and naturalization law and repeatedly targeted the federal prosecutor's office in his advances.
