Alexander Borissowitsch Shirokorad ( Russian Александр Борисович Широкорад ; * 1947 in Moscow ) is a Russian non-fiction author and journalist.

Shirokorad is the author of several popular science books on military technology, Russian history, and Russian foreign and military policy. He is particularly dedicated to the development of Soviet and Russian artillery .

Shirokorad publishes regularly in the Independent Military Review ( Независимое военное обозрение ).

Schirokorad is an expert in the field of artillery; his work is rated positively in scientific circles. In contrast, his work on Russian history met with strong rejection in scientific circles. In particular, he is accused of inaccuracies in the presentation and the use of outdated sources.
