Alexander Carathéodory Pascha (* 1833 in Constantinople ; † 1906 ibid) was an Ottoman diplomat of Greek descent (in the literature there are different spellings of the name: Karatheodori , Caratheodory , Carathéodori ).

Carathéodory Pasha was Phanariot (after Constantinople district Phanar , the seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople Opel since the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453; Greeks from this district had since the 17th century , then in the diplomatic service of the first in the translation Ottoman Empire represented, were very influential in the 18th and 19th centuries, also as Ottoman governor in the Danube principalities - until the Greek uprising of 1821).

Together with Mehmed Ali Pascha he was negotiator (referred to in the French protocols as Premier Plénipotentiaire ) of the Ottoman government ( Hohe Pforte ) at the Berlin Congress of 1878, through which the Balkan crisis should be settled.

According to the recollections of Joseph Maria von Radowitz (member of the German delegation), "[he] won the sympathy of all congressmen through his tactful and intelligent demeanor, including Otto von Bismarck , who was otherwise for the Turks, who made everything difficult with their indecision, didn't have much to spare. ”His son-in-law and great-nephew Constantin Carathéodory (1873–1950) was a famous mathematician who was highly valued by colleagues. He himself had translated important mathematical writings from Arabic and owned a large mathematical library.
