Alexander Figotin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexander Lwowitsch Figotin (born February 23, 1954 ) is a Russian-born American mathematical physicist and professor at the University of California, Irvine .

Figotin received his doctorate from Tashkent State University in 1980.

In addition to Schrödinger operators in random media (about which he published a monograph with Leonid Pastur), he deals with other topics of mathematical physics, such as electromagnetic waves in linear and nonlinear complex media (such as nonlinear photonic crystals), dissipative and open systems, localization in classical waves, statistical mechanics and random number generators.
