Life

Hans Georg Wehse comes from a Silesian aristocratic family that mostly waived the nobility title of until the beginning of the 18th century . He was the son of heir, liege and court lord Georg Wehse on Rosenberg († June 30, 1566 in Burkersdorf ) and his wife Esther nee Döben († November 16, 1589 in Burkersdorf). His mother-in-law was from Gleina .

Around 1575 Hans Georg Wehse can be found as a chamberlain at the court of the Saxon Elector August in Dresden. Under his successor Christian I , he was appointed court marshal with the rank of council. In 1604 he was promoted to Oberhofmarschall.

In 1609 Wehse became the official governor in Stolpen. He worked as such until 1622, when he transferred this office to his son-in-law Nicolaus Gebhard von Miltitz.

He owned the manors Burkersdorf, Oberottendorf , Lohmen , Berthelsdorf and Polenz .

Marriages and offspring

Hans Georg von Wehse was married three times. First he married Anna von Ponickau (* 1561; † 1579) on February 27, 1578, with whom he fathered a son:

  • Johann Christian Wehse (* 1579), later chamberlain from the Electorate of Saxony

Anna Wehse probably died while giving birth to her son or from so-called childbed fever. His second wife was a born von Taubenheim who lived on the Lohmen estate for a long time.

In 1596 Wehse married again, this time Agnes von Haugwitz from the house of Putzkau (* 1561, † October 10, 1631 in Dresden), the daughter of the governor of Belgern, Hans Christoph von Haugwitz and Agnes nee. from Miltitz. Agnes von Haugwitz was the widow of Johann IX. von Haugwitz (1524–1595), the last bishop of the Catholic diocese of Meißen. From this marriage there were four daughters, including:

  • Agnes Wehse (born March 7, 1599 in Dresden, † October 1, 1658 in Dresden). In 1615 she married the judge of appeal, governor of Leipzig and Grimma, Reichspfennigmeister and Lord on Pomßen, Hans von Ponickau († 1642).
  • Esther Elisabeth Wehse (* August 7, 1602 in Dresden, † July 22, 1640 in Dresden). In 1622 she married the Electoral Saxon Privy Council, governor of Stolpen and Radeburg and Herr auf Siebeneichen, Nikol Gebhardt von Miltitz (1597–1635). One of the couple's children, Hans Dietrich von Miltitz auf Siebeneichen (1631–1697), was chamberlain of the Electorate of Saxony, a second, Heinrich Gebhard von Miltitz of Langburkersdorf (1633–1688), was chief chamberlain, court marshal, secret councilor and chancellor.
