Alexander Findlay
Alexander Findlay († May 10, 1851 ) was a British Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal African Corps and was the first lieutenant governor of the British colony of Gambia in West Africa .
As the successor to Alexander Grant , he led the Gambian garrison in the West India Regiment from August 1, 1826 , at the same time he acted as administrator of the colony. On December 12, 1829 Findlay was appointed lieutenant governor of Gambia, he held this office until February 23, 1830. As the successor to Hugh Lumley he was on August 26, 1830 lieutenant governor of Sierra Leone , he held this office until June 12 1833, in December 1833, Octavius Temple succeeded him.
