Alexander K. Hartmann (* 1968 ) is a German physicist and professor for computer-oriented physics at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .
Life
From 1987 to 1994 he studied physics with a minor in mathematics at the University of Duisburg and graduated in 1994 with a diploma. During this time he also studied computer science with a minor in mathematics at the Fernuniversität Hagen and graduated with a diploma in 1993. He then did his doctorate at the Institute for Theoretical Physics under Heinz Horner and at the Graduate College of Heidelberg University on the subject of “Basic states of disordered Ising systems ”. In 2004 he completed his habilitation in physics at the University of Göttingen . Finally, in April 2004, he became professor (W2) for “Computer-Oriented Theoretical Physics”. From April 2013 to April 2015, he also held the position of Director of the Institute for Physics.
Research areas
Investigation of complex systems from solid state physics, theoretical computer science and molecular biology using computer simulations.
