After the death of his father, Colonial Minister in the War Government Churchill , in 1941 he inherited his title and rank as Baron Lloyd, as well as his seat in the British House of Lords.

After Lloyd had earned a not inconsiderable fortune as a banker after 1945, he was appointed to Winston Churchill's second government in 1951 . Lloyd held this office in the government of Anthony Eden , in which he sat from 1955 to 1957.

Marriage and offspring

In 1942 he married Lady Victoria Jean Marjorie Mabell, daughter of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie . The marriage resulted in a son and two daughters:

  • Davinia Margaret Lloyd (* 1943)
  • Charles George David Lloyd (1949–1974)
  • Laura Blanche Bridget Lloyd (* 1960)

Since his son died before him and did not leave any male descendants, his title of nobility expired on his death in 1985.
