Alexander Nikolajewitsch Leonow ( Russian Александр Николаевич Леонов ; born July 17, 1978 in Moscow ) is a Russian light welterweight boxer.
Career
Leonow won the gold medal in light welterweight (up to 63.5 kg) at the European Championships in Tampere ( Finland ) in 2000 . In the final he defeated the Bulgarian Dimitar Shtiljanow 5-0.
At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he reached the quarter-finals, lost in the quarter-finals to Ricardo Williams with 12:17 on points and finished 6th in the light welterweight division (up to 63.5 kg).
In 2001 and 2004 Leonov won the Russian championships.
In 2005 he ended his sporting career.
