Alexander Thon

Alexander Thon (* 1966 in Bremen ) is a German historian .

Life

From 1987 to 1993, Thon studied Rhineland regional studies, ancient history and comparative religious studies at the University of Bonn , from which he graduated in 1993 with a Magister Artium .

From 1995 to 1998 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Historical Regional Studies of the Rhineland at the University of Bonn. This was followed by a traineeship at the Institute for Palatinate History and Folklore in Kaiserslautern, where he was employed as a research assistant from 2000 to 2003. He has been a freelance historian since 2003.

His research focuses on the High and Late Middle Ages, the Rhenish, Palatinate and Alsatian regional studies as well as research on castles and palaces, especially in these regions.
