Alexander Viktorovich Ryazankin

Alexander Viktorovich Ryazankin ( Russian Александр Викторович Рязанкин ; * July 21, 1949 ) is a former Soviet rower who was second in the 1970 world championship with the Soviet eighth .

Athletic career

The 1.90 m tall Alexander Ryazankin moved into the Soviet eighth in 1970. At the 1970 World Championships in St. Catharines , the eighth from the GDR won ahead of the Soviet eighth with Nikolai Sumatichin , Alexander Martyshkin , Alexander Ryazankin, Viktor Melnikow , Beniaminas Natsevicius , Mindaugas Vaitkus , Viktor Lewschin , Alexander Wisotski and helmsman Viktor Michejew .

Two years later, at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Martyshkin and Michejew were in eighth of the World Cup runners-up in addition to Ryazankin. The New Zealanders won, behind them the US eighth won silver in front of the boat from the GDR. Almost three seconds behind the boat from the GDR, the Soviet rowers came fourth ahead of the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany. Ryazankin received his last international medal at the European Championships in 1973 when he finished third behind the boats from the GDR and Czechoslovakia with the Soviet eighth.
