Live and act

Alexander von Lüdinghausen came from the ancient Westphalian noble family von Lüdinghausen . He first worked as a pastor in Lüdinghausen before he became canon in St. Mauritz in Münster . In this function he notarized on April 3, 1287 a renunciation by the knights Hermann and Bernhard von Münster to their rights at the Kampwordesbeke court in favor of the Mauritz monastery. On November 13, 1293, as dean in St. Mauritz, he signed a contract with the knight Hermann von Lüdinghausen. Four years later, on September 21, 1297, he was first mentioned as Provost of St. Mauritz. After a dispute with the dean and the canons because of withheld benefices, he gave up this office on January 9, 1313 and became provost. Only a short time in this office, he died on August 17, 1314. On August 19, his successor Gottfried von Arnsberg was in office.
