Alexandra Fredricka Caroline Cuffel is an American Judaist .

Life

She earned her BA in Medieval Studies from Indiana University in 1988 , the MPhil Medieval History from Cambridge University in 1990 and her Ph.D. Medieval History at New York University . She is professor for the past and present of Jewish religion at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Her research focuses on the relationships between Jews, Christians and Muslims in the Middle Ages, particularly on the intersections of religious polemics, medical theories and gender in both Western Europe and the Middle East.
