Alexei Borissowitsch Stepanow ( Russian Алексей Борисович Степанов ; born February 14, 1972 in the Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played exclusively for clubs from the Russian Super League from 1990 to 2000 .
Career
Alexei Stepanow began his career as a hockey player with Krylya Sowetow Moscow , for whose professional team he was active in the Russian Super League from 1990 to 1994 . He then moved to his league rivals HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , with whom he won four titles in the following six seasons. In addition to the runner-up, the attacker won the 1998 cup with his team. In 1999 and 2000 he won the European Hockey League with Metallurg and in the 1998/99 season he became Russian champion for the first time . Following the 1999/2000 season, Stepanov ended his career at the age of only 28.
