The house was founded in 1863 by the Alexian Brothers . In 1975 the supporting company "Krankenhaus Maria-Hilf GmbH Krefeld" was founded. Since 2010 the company has been called Alexianer Krefeld GmbH.
In 2006, after expansion of the neurology department and the establishment of inpatient rehabilitation in the Center for Psychotraumatology, the house had 492 beds / places.
