Life

Alexius von Brandenburg received his ordination as Bishop of Brandenburg between June 23, 1190, the last mention of Baldram von Brandenburg as Bishop of Brandenburg, and July 21, 1191 by Archbishop Wichmann von Seeburg . On July 21, 1191, as Bishop of Brandenburg, he attended the ordination of Widukind von Corvey as abbot in the monastery of God's grace near Calbe . He died in 1192.

So far it has not been possible to clarify exactly whether Alexius von Brandenburg was also the canon of the monastery of Our Dear Women from 1161 to 1180 and later provost of Hildeburgerode. After November 29, 1182 this person was proposed by Emperor Friedrich I to the cathedral chapter of Lübeck for the election of a bishop. The person refused.

The writer of the first part of the Codex Viennensis is believed to be in Alexius von Brandenburg .
