Alfeld's house in Neckarelz

The Alfeldsche Haus in the center of Neckarelz , a district of the large district town of Mosbach in the Neckar-Odenwald district in northern Baden-Württemberg , is a historic half-timbered house . It bears its name after the Alfeld family who ran the farm belonging to the house for a long time.

history

For a long time the house belonged to the Alfeld family, who provided two mayors of Neckarelz between 1861 and 1918. Emil Alfeld (1900–1961), who became known as the singing farmer , but also ran the farm belonging to the building, where he made numerous inventions based on agricultural activities , achieved special significance . In addition to a device for automatically removing manure from the cattle shed and a motorized overhead conveyor for transporting hay, he also invented a roof for tractors. He was a consultant to various agricultural machinery companies and his farm became the target of other farmers who wanted to visit the technical operation. Emil Alfeld was awarded the Justus von Liebig Prize by the University of Kiel in 1951 for his inventions .

The house later came into the possession of the Mosbach stove maker Klaus Stecher, who renovated it in 1987, including the barn and stables. In particular, the framework of the building was also exposed. With the distinctive bay window and its neat half-timbered structure, the building characterizes today's Neckarelzer market square. In front of the building, the Heimatverein Neckarelz e. V. erected a plaque informing about the history of the house.
