Alfons Lappas (1974)

Alfons Lappas (born June 3, 1929 in Wiesbaden ) was a financial expert at the DGB and headed the BGAG . In this role he was a supervisory board member at various trade union companies.

He played an inglorious role in the collapse of the co op AG . He supported the then chairman of the board, Bernd Otto, in reducing the size of the board from 7 to 3 members and, in return, was rewarded for his good behavior with commission payments in the millions, as well as expensive trips and gifts. Lappas gained further negative notoriety as the last CEO of Neue Heimat , which collapsed spectacularly in 1986.
