Alfonsas Kupšys

Alfonsas Kupšys (* 1951 ) a Lithuanian chess player and chess official.

Life

After graduating from high school, Kupšys graduated from the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija in Kaunas in 1994 with a diploma in hydrotechnology and became an engineer and hydrotechnician. Then he worked as an engineer in the company UAB "Vilniaus hidroprojektas" in Vilnius . On February 15, 1986 Kupšys debuted in Baltic Sea - Tournament (at the 4th panel with the team six , he finished 11th place). Since 1996 he has been president of the Lietuvos korespondencinių šachmatų federacija . In 1994 he reached the Elo rating of 2105.

In 1994 he was named International Correspondence Chess Master and in 1999 he was named International Master of Correspondence Chess. Since 2011 he has held the title of correspondence chess grandmaster.

Kupšys is married and has three children.
