Croscore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chrome OS core fonts , which are also under the name Croscore fonts are known, are a collection of TrueType - Fonts : Arimo ( Sans-serif ), Tinos ( Serif ) and cousin ( monospaced ). All fonts are compatible with Monotype Corporation Arial , Times New Roman, and Courier New , which are the most widely used fonts because of their availability in Microsoft Windows.

Google has licensed these fonts under the Apache License 2.0 from Ascender Corporation since 2013 .

The fonts were originally developed by Steve Matteson as Ascender Sans and Ascender Serif. They are also the basis for the Liberation family of fonts , which Red Hat has licensed under a different open source license. Version 2.0 of the Liberation Fonts, which is based on the Croscore fonts, has been published under the SIL Open Font License since July 2012.

Crosextra fonts

In 2013, Google also released the Crosextra package (Chrome OS Extra), which contains the fonts Carlito (which corresponds to Microsoft's Calibri ) and Caladea (which corresponds to Cambria ).
