Alfred Dittrich

Alfred Dittrich (* 1950 ) has been a judge at the General Court of the European Union (EGC, before the Lisbon Treaty, Court of First Instance or GEI for short ) since September 1, 2007 .

Dittrich studied law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg from 1970 to 1975 , after which he worked as a trainee lawyer at the Nuremberg Higher Regional Court . From 1978 to 1982 Dittrich was a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Economics, 1982 in the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Communities and then until 1992 in the Federal Ministry of Economics. From 1992 to 2007 he was head of the “Law of the European Union” department in the Federal Ministry of Justice. As the head of the German delegation in the “Court of Justice” working group of the Council and authorized representative of the Federal Government in cases before the European Court of Justice , Dittrich was connected to the European Union and its jurisdiction.

Dittrich was appointed judge at the European Court of First Instance by order of April 25, 2007 and with effect from September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2013. In mid-2013 he was reappointed until August 31, 2019.
