Alfred Ninaus

Alfred Ninaus (* 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film producer and film director.

Life

Alfred Ninaus spent his childhood and youth on a farm in Styria. First Ninaus learned the photography trade. He subsequently assisted in professional film productions. As early as 1970 he directed his first short film "Christina". Alfred Ninaus' filmmaking in the 1970s and 1980s dealt mainly with socially critical topics or taboo topics. With his feature film "Lauf Haselauf" (1979) - a film about juvenile delinquency in the slums of Graz at the end of the 1970s - Ninaus gained national and international attention and was thus represented at various film festivals. Alfred Ninaus is one of the most important representatives of the “New Austrian Film”.

In 1980 Ninaus founded the film production company RANfilm, which produces documentary and fictional films for cinema and TV. Alfred Ninaus is married and has two children. Stephanie (* 1987) and Matthias (* 1995) also work in the film industry.
