Alfredas Pekeliūnas

Alfredas Pekeliūnas (born March 9, 1948 in Rokiškis ) is a Lithuanian agricultural entrepreneur and politician , member of the Seimas , Vice-President of Parliament (2004-2008).

Career

After graduating from the 1st secondary school in Šilutė in 1966 , he graduated from the Lietuvos veterinarijos akademija in 1970 and became a zoo technician . In 1975 he received his doctorate on the subject of "Scientific organization of work in large dairy farms " (lit. Darbo mokslinis organizavimas stambiose karvių fermose ). In 1989 he completed social psychology at the party college of the CPSU in Leningrad and in 1999 studied at Kauno tarptautinė aukštoji vadybos mokykla.

From 1970 to 1971 he served in the Soviet Army in Baranavichy in western Belarus . From 1979 to 2000 he headed “ Krekenavos agrofirma ” as general director. From 2000 to 2004 he was mayor of the Panevėžys Rajong community , from 2004 to 2008 a member of the Seima.

He is the founder and since 2000 president of the Lithuanian Pig Farmers Association .
