Goalkeeper Balmelli belonged to the Montevidean club Central, which was competing in the Primera División , at least in 1917 . In that year his club finished 7th in the final table. In total, he played for this club for 15 years.

National team

Balmelli was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team , for which he completed at least two international matches. Among other things, he was in the encounter on October 16, 1917 against the Brazilian selection on the field. He took part with the national team in the 1917 South American Championship . There he won the title with Uruguay. In the course of the tournament, however, he was not used.
