Alfredo Ricardo Pérez (born April 10, 1924 - † August 23, 1994 ) was an Argentine soccer player.

Career

Club career

Alfredo Pérez began his football career in 1949 at Rosario Central . He stayed there for two years until 1950, before moving to River Plate in Buenos Aires after 42 games for Rosario Central, in which he scored the only goal in his professional career . In 1952 Pérez succeeded with River Plate, where he played in a team with Ángel Labruna , Félix Loustau or Amadeo Carrizo , for the first time in his career, winning the Argentine football championship when first place in the Primera División with one point ahead of the racing Club from Avellaneda was occupied. In the following season, River Plate was again at the top of the table after thirty matchdays, this time leaving Vélez Sársfield behind with four points. After only a third place in the championship of Boca Juniors in 1954 , River Plate was again Argentine champion with Pérez in 1955. They came first again in front of the Racing Club. In the following two years River Plate was able to win the Argentine championship more times. Alfredo Pérez stayed with River Plate until 1960 and won the Argentine championship five times during that time. After 196 games for River Plate without goals, he left the club and joined the second division club Atlético Platense , where he ended his active career a little later.

National team

In the Argentine national football team , Alfredo Pérez was used three times in 1957 and 1958. He did not succeed in scoring. He was in the Argentine squad for the 1958 World Cup in Sweden . However, he was not used in the tournament. Meanwhile, his team failed already after the preliminary round, after finishing fourth and last in a group with defending champions Germany , Northern Ireland and Czechoslovakia .
