Algarrobo (San Antonio)

Algarrobo is a city and municipality in the province of San Antonio , Chile . It is located on the coast and is a popular resort for the people of Santiago . The city is upscale and is close to El Quisco and Valparaíso . The city received a lot of attention when the San Alfonso del Mar was awarded the largest pool in the world.

At the 2007 census, Algarrobo was 175.6 km² and had 13,817 inhabitants. Of these, 6,734 were male residents and 7,083 were female residents. 10,899 of the inhabitants lived in the urban area of ​​Algarrobo. Compared to the last census, the population grew by 5525.

Municipal council

The municipal council is made up of three parties:

  • PP: 42.15% (1302 voters)
  • PSOE: 42.89% (1,325 voters)
  • Ciudadanos: 11.59% (853 voters)

This means that the PP and PSOE each provide six city councilors and Ciudadanos one.
