The Algerian gazelle ( Eudorcas rufina , Syn . : Gazella rufina ), also called the red gazelle , is an extinct species of gazelle that lived in northern Algeria and Morocco . Presumably it was native to the regions with higher precipitation in the northern Atlas Mountains .

The last known Algerian gazelle was shot in 1894, and the species has been considered lost ever since. It was formally declared extinct in 1994. Today there are still three museum specimens of this type in Paris and London.
