Ali Köken

Ali Köken (born April 20, 1967 in Afyon , Turkey) is a Turkish theater, Karagöz and Hacivat master and poet. He lives in Grevenbroich .

Artistic activity

After completing his school education, he moved to Germany and completed his training as a theater actor in Mönchengladbach. As an actor, director and consultant he worked in many theater groups. After intensive research and studies on Karagöz and Hacivat, he specialized in these and became a specialist, so-called master, for these forms of theater.

In 2005 he published a Karagöz and Hacivat DVD with Anadolu Verlag .

In the film Islamic Festivals in Germany: Ramadan , produced by the Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education , Ali Köken appeared as the only master from Europe for Karagöz and Hacivat. He appeared on many local and national TV channels and played live Karagöz and -Hacivat.

He has also won awards for many of the poems he has written. In 2008 he was honored as the best European poet by Platform magazine . He currently plays meddah (Turkish stand-up) and shadow play (Karagöz and Hacivat). His poems are used by musicians as texts and also processed further.

He is currently (2008) chairman of the Gurbet ozanları ve şairleri poets and poets association .
