Ali Reza Khan Azod al Molk ( listen ? / I ), also Azud al-Mulk for short , PersianAudio file / audio sample عضدالملک(* 1822 , † 22. September 1910 ) was Regent of Iran .

Life

Ali Reza Khan Qajar was the son of Mousa Khan, an uncle of Naser al-Din Shah . Ali Reza was part of the retinue of Naser al-Din Shah and accompanied him in 1870 and 1871 on his pilgrimages to the holy places in Najaf and Karbala and in 1873 and 1878 on his trips to Europe.

Ali Reza Khan became governor of Māzandarān and later Minister of Justice. After the fall of Mohammed Ali Shah in 1909, he lived with his family in exile in Odessa and his twelve-year-old son Ahmad Shah was brought back to Persia to succeed him. Ali Reza Khan was installed as regent by decision of the Iranian parliament. He was supposed to represent Ahmad Shah until he came of age.

Ali Reza Khan, known as Azod al Molk, had no formal education. He was considered a fair and honest politician. At the end of his life he was referred to as Khan Dai (honorable uncle).
