Alianza Social (Bolivia)
Alianza Social (short form: " AS ") is a party in Bolivia , which was founded regionally by the indigenous politician René Joaquino in 2004 and expanded to the entire country in February 2006.
The basis for the expansion of the party at the state level was the great success of Joaquino as mayor of Potosí , where he was able to win up to 65 percent of the voters for his election manifesto. The politics of the Alianza Social is close to other parties of the political left , such as the Partido Socialista (PS) and the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) of the Bolivian President Evo Morales . After his resignation as mayor, Joaquino was able to unite around 2.3 percent of the vote in the presidential elections of 2009, so that the Alianza Social is represented by two members in parliament.
