Alice Ruiz

Alice Ruiz (born January 22, 1946 in Curitiba , Paraná ) is a Brazilian poet and translator .

Life

Alice Ruiz began to write as a teenager and published her poems in magazines and newspapers for many years from 1962. In 1966 she went to Rio de Janeiro, returned to Curitiba and in 1968 married the writer Paulo Leminski . She studied haiku poetry, an interest she shared with her husband, and published four translations of texts by Japanese poets.

It was not until she was 34 that she managed to publish her first independent book Navalhanaliga , a total of 25 works. In 2013 a joint film biography Alice e Paulo was published, directed by Gustavo Tissot.
