Alīda Ābola

Alīda Ābola (born November 29, 1954 ) is a former Latvian orienteer .

Ābola started orienteering at the age of 18. When she first participated in the World Cup in 1989, however, she was already 34 years old. In Skövde , Sweden , she won the bronze medal in the women's individual race behind Marita Skogum from Sweden and Jana Galíková from Czechoslovakia. In the Soviet season with Ede Umarik , Irina Namowir and Danutė Girinskaitė she reached number five. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Abola started at the World Championships in 1993 and 1995 for Latvia, but did not achieve any notable successes.

Ābola now lives in Sigulda, Latvia and continues to compete in orienteering competitions such as the so-called Masters World Championships. Alīda Ābola also runs marathons. Her best time here is 3:12 hours.
