Alinhamento da Têra
The Alinhamento da Têra (also called Alinhamento do Monte da Têra or Conjunto Megalítico do Monte de Têra ) is a row of stones near Mora near Pavia in the Évora district in the Alentejo in Portugal .
The alignment was discovered in 1996 by Leonor Rocha and Manuel Calado. Due to its uniqueness and importance for the Iberian Peninsula , it was the target of numerous excavations between 1996 and 2008. At first only five fallen menhirs were visible, which formed a north-west-south-east oriented line. Later, a second group of nine menhirs was found in extension of the first. The second group was more damaged and was beside her a cremation grave from the Iron Age discovered. The menhir row is not yet classified as a cultural heritage and is therefore not protected by law.
