Alius Mikėnas

Alius Mikėnas (born September 22, 1955 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian chess player.

Life

His father was Vladas Mikėnas , who held the title of International Master and Honorary Grand Master in local chess and the title of International Master in correspondence chess .

After graduating from secondary school, Alius Mikėnas graduated in 1980 with a degree in business mathematics at the Faculty of Business Cybernetics of Vilniaus universitetas . He has been playing chess since 1965 and from 1972 carried the Soviet title of candidate for sports champion. His highest rating was 2240 (July 1997 and January 1998).

Alius Mikėnas also plays correspondence chess. In 1996 he became European correspondence chess champion, and since 1997 he has held the title of international correspondence chess master. In May 1994 he established the Vladas Mikėnas Foundation.
