Alkenoic acids

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alkenoic acids (also alkenoates, alkenates or alkenecarboxylic acids ) are carboxylic acids which, in addition to a carboxy group, have at least one CC double bond in the hydrocarbon chain. Some alkenoic acids are of great importance as important and "healthy" fatty acids contained in fats . These are known as unsaturated fatty acids . A specific example is linoleic acid .

Acrylic acid (α, β-unsaturated propionic acid), whose esters , amides and nitriles are used as monomers for the production of plastics and adhesives, is of considerable technical and economic importance .
