Alkinoë (Corinth)
Alkinoë ( Greek Ἀλκινόη Alkinoē , Latinized Alcinoë ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
According to legend, she came from Corinth and was the daughter of Polybos and wife of Amphilochus . Since Alkinoë had employed the weaver Nikandre without wages and chased her out of the house after a year, Athene made her in love with a young man named Xanthos from Samos, which is why Alkinoë left her family and continued with Xanthos. On the way she became aware of the dishonesty of her behavior and threw herself into the sea.
