On November 13, 1966, a NAMC YS-11 crashed on All-Nippon Airways Flight 533 shortly after the go- around in Matsuyama .

course

The plane took off at 7:13 p.m. from Osaka-Itami Airport to Matsuyama. At around 20:20 hrs, the pilots began the approach to runway 31. The approach was higher than usual and the YS-11 landed 460 meters behind the threshold. After 170 meters on the runway, the YS-11 took off and rose to an altitude of 70 to 100 meters. Then the machine made a left turn, lost altitude and hit the Seto Inland Sea . None of the 50 inmates survived.

Despite intensive investigations, it could not be clarified why the machine had crashed. It is the second worst accident involving a YS-11 after the crash of a YS-11 on Toa Domestic Airlines Flight 63 .

Others

Just nine months earlier, a Boeing 727 had also had an accident on All Nippon Airways flight 60 .
