The All Progressives Congress ( APC ) is a social democratic party in Nigeria that was founded on February 6, 2013. It emerged from the merger of the opposition parties Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) and part of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). In the 2015 presidential election in Nigeria , the APC candidate Muhammadu Buhari succeeded in removing the majority of the votes from the previous incumbent Goodluck Jonathan from the conservative People's Democratic Party .
