history
The Allgemeine Gold- und Silberscheideanstalt was founded by well-known jewelry manufacturers for the recovery of precious metals from their production waste, founded on January 20, 1891 as a stock corporation and entered in the commercial register on February 20, 1891 . One of the founders was the entrepreneur and politician Andreas Odenwald . The first chairman of the supervisory board was Ferdinand Kiehnle, while Heinrich Witzenmann and Julius Maurer were on the board . In 1938 the plant for base metals was added at Pforzheim's main freight station. In the Second World War , the refinery was severely damaged and rebuilt at its current location after the end of the war. With the closure of the Degussa site in Pforzheim in 1993, Degussa's jewelry metal business was taken over and integrated. In 2003 the Belgian Umicore acquired the majority of the company's shares.
Agosi has worked with Schoene Edelmetaal BV (Amsterdam), Ögussa Ges.mbH (Vienna), Allgemeine Suisse SA (Yverdon), Umicore Precious Metals (Thailand) Ltd. (Bangkok) and Umicore Galvanotechnik GmbH in Schwäbisch Gmünd have further subsidiaries. Umicore Jewelery Materials Processing Ltd. in Foshan / China was closed in July 2012.
