The general administrative regulation for road traffic regulations (abbreviation VwV-StVO ) is an administrative regulation of the German federal government . It regulates the implementation of road traffic regulations and the implementation of traffic facilities by the municipal road traffic authorities and road construction authorities. The regulation is based on Article 84 paragraph 2 of the Basic Law .
The VwV-StVO, which is little known to the public, contains explanations and instructions for almost every section of the StVO. Among other things, these relate to:
- Road markings
- the structure of lanes and intersections
- Cycling facilities
- the size and placement of traffic signs
- the equipment of traffic lights .
Amendment 2014
A regulation on Section 21 (1a) StVO (suitable child seats ) was added.
Amendment 2015
Rules for giving priority to electrically powered vehicles have been introduced.
Amendment 2017
The rules on excessive road use have been revised. The system was revised as a catalog of traffic signs (VzKat).
With the traffic sign catalog from 2017, which replaced the catalog from 1992, changes were made to the numbering and naming. The system in the area of additional characters has also been changed.
