Common alphabet of the Cameroonian languages

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The general alphabet of the Cameroonian languages ( French alphabet général des langues camerounaises , AGLC; General Alphabet of Cameroon Languages , GACL) is a set of orthographic rules for the languages of Cameroon .

The alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet and includes several so-called additional letters, the lettres supplémentaires . It is derived from the Bantu alphabet of 1970 and was created in 1978. It was initially tested for a year and accepted under the aegis of the University of Yaoundé and Scientific Research (ONAREST) with the participation of linguists from SIL International . It was published again in 1984. The Association nationale des commissions de langues camerounaises (ANACLAC) has adopted the AGLC as the alphabet and its spelling for working with the Cameroonian languages.
