The Herrenhausen Alliance was an alliance between the Kingdom of France , the Kingdom of Great Britain and Prussia-Brandenburg , which was concluded on September 3, 1725 in Herrenhausen , Hanover . It was created in response to the conclusion of the Treaty of Vienna between the Kingdom of Spain and Austria . The alliance was supposed to guarantee the security of everyone involved and at the same time prevent Spain and Austria from gaining strength. The Ostend Company was to be dissolved, the German Protestants protected and the Prussian claims to Jülich-Berg enforced. The United Netherlands and the Kingdom of Denmark later joined the alliance. The outbreak of an impending war between the two alliance systems (→ Anglo-Spanish War (1727–1729) ) did not, however, occur. The Vienna Treaty of 1731 finally dissolved the alliance constellations.
