The American aircraft engine Allison V-3420 was a piston engine with 24 cylinders.
history
The United States Army Air Corps commissioned in 1937, the Allison Engine Company to develop a large-volume, high-performance aircraft engine. Since the aircraft intended for this engine were not built in large numbers, only around 150 engines were built between 1941 and 1945.
construction
The V-3420 essentially consisted of two 12-cylinder Allison V-1710s , whose crankshafts ran coupled in a common crankcase.
