The Allmannshauser Steilwand (also Allmannshauser Wall ) is a rock face below the water surface of the Starnberger See . It is a nationally known diving destination that is visited by around 4,000 divers every year.

location

The rock face is located in the middle east of the lake near the town of Allmannshausen , after which it is named.

properties

The Allmannshauser steep face offers various stopping points and break points for divers at different depths. At a depth of 40 meters there is a warning that divers who travel with normal compressed air bottles have reached the maximum diving depth due to the deep intoxication .

The steep face drops gradually down to about 70 meters. Then it goes into a dump to the deepest point of the lake at 127.8 m.

From November 1st to March 15th diving is prohibited in the nature reserve area; however, there is the neighboring winter diving site.

Diving accidents

In the period from 1994 to Easter 2017, 20 divers were killed in diving accidents there.
