Allt-a-Bhainne is a whiskey distillery in Favillar , Moray , Scotland , UK .

history

The name Allt-a-Bhainne (pronounced: aulta-wanje ) comes from the Gaelic ( Allt a 'Bhainne ) and means "milk stream".

The distillery was founded in 1975 by Chivas Brothers , a subsidiary of Seagram . In 1989, the capacity was doubled by adding two more stills . With the takeover, the distillery went to Pernod Ricard on December 19, 2001 , which it shut down in October 2002. On May 27, 2005 the distillery was put back into operation.

production

The water at the Speyside distillery comes from the Scurran and Rowantree Burns. The distillery has a mash tun ( mash tun ) (8.4 t) made of stainless steel , eight fermentation vats ( wash backs ) (together 352,000 l) also made of stainless steel, two wash stills and two spirit stills that are heated by steam.

Products

An official bottling of the malt whiskey has only existed since 2018. The independent bottlings available on the market date from the time before the change of ownership. Pernod Ricard uses the whiskey produced in blends.
