Alma (cherry)

Alma is a dark variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries .

origin

Alma was bred in 1966 by the fruit growing research institute in Jork from the varieties Rube and Allers Späte . In the old country , there are still very high stocks of the variety.

The fruit is small to medium in size. The skin is half ripe dark red and black when fully ripe. The medium-firm, juicy flesh is aromatic and sweet. The stone is small. It has a very high burst resistance and ripens in the 6th cherry week .
