Almaz Böhm , née Teshome, (born September 22, 1964 in Jijiga , Ethiopia ) is the former patron of the German foundation Menschen für Menschen - Karlheinz Böhms Äthiopienhilfe and the Austrian association Menschen für Menschen - Karlheinz Böhms Äthiopienhilfe (until May 4, 2016) and the widow of the founder Karlheinz Böhm .

Life

Almaz Böhm is the sixth child in the extended Teshome family. She attended the local church school before completing secondary school in Jijiga through eighth grade. In 1978 the family moved to the capital Addis Ababa because of the Ogaden War between Ethiopia and Somalia . There Teshome attended the Shimelis Habte Secondary School until the completion of the twelfth grade before studying at the Agricultural College Awassa .

In November 1986 Almaz Teshome received a position as head of department and livestock breeding expert at the Menschen für Menschen foundation . Through her job, Teshome met her future husband.

Almaz Böhm was elected deputy chairman at the members' and foundation council meetings in 1999. In addition, from 2004 to 2008 she was Chair of the Board of Trustees . In 2008 Almaz Böhm took over the role of managing chairwoman of the foundation. From 2011 to 2013 she took over the chairmanship of the foundation from her husband. In May 2014 the board of directors of Menschen für Menschen unanimously elected Almaz Böhm as patron of the foundation. She resigned from this position at her own request at the beginning of May 2016.

Almaz Böhm was married to the actor Karlheinz Böhm (1928–2014) from 1991 . They have two children together. She lives in Austria.
