Almuth Klemer

Almuth Klemer (born February 12, 1924 in Bassum ) is a German chemist and professor of organic chemistry at the University of Münster .

Life

Klemer studied in Gießen and Münster with a diploma in 1950. She received her doctorate in 1952 under Fritz Micheel ( on the synthesis of sugar-amino acid compounds and a new process for the preparation of sugar anhydrides ). Klemer became scientific councilor in Münster in 1963, adjunct professor in 1964, head of department in 1966 and professor (C4) at the Institute for Organic Chemistry in 1980. She taught until 1986.

It deals with the chemistry of carbohydrates . A grant for organic chemistry in Münster is named after her.
