Alojzije Jembrih (born June 11, 1947 in Varaždin ) is a Croatian literary historian , linguist and Slavic philologist .

Career

Alojzije Jembrih attended elementary school in Gregurovec and Mihovljan ( Krapina-Zagorje County ), and then moved to the Collegium Zagrabiense grammar school in Zagreb . He then studied Slavic Studies, Art History and Philosophy at the University of Vienna . In 2004 he obtained his PhD with a dissertation on the 16th century Kajkavian writer Antun Vramec .

From 1978 to 1980 he was a lecturer at the Institute of Old Slavonic Language in Zagreb. From 1983 to 1996 he was a teacher of Slavic Studies at the University of Ljubljana . Jembrih also teaches Croatian language at the Čakovec Pedagogical University . His specialization is the kajkavic literary language and its authors. He is also the researcher of Croatian Protestant literature from the 16th century and conducted research in Germany from 1986 to 1991 .
